Structure Description
The living room, no longer a "parlor", occupies one half of the first floor, the dining room occupies the third quarter of the first floor, and the kitchen and service spaces occupy the remaining fourth of the floor. In actuality, the living room and dining room are one large space divided by a massive fireplace, with its Roman brick face and hearth and cube-shaped limestone edge pieces. The beamed ceiling and built-in bookshelves and buffet are reminiscent of architect Walter Burley Griffin. The sun porch, which serves as an extended living space of both the living and dining rooms, completes the space.
