Structure Description
A popular house plan in Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana, the two-story, symmetrical I-House was one room deep and two rooms wide on each floor. More affluent families added a stair hall and chimneys on each end, as with the Hedges home. Two additional rooms and a porch were added in 1880, perpendicular to the existing I-House, and a final addition was made in 1917.
