Structure Description
The Hoffman House would have been regarded in its day as a modern intrusion into a neighborhood of two-story Victorian Homes. Restrained in form and ornament, even for its type and period, it relies on a bold handling of elemental shapes and materials for its effect.
The recess of the front porch, rather than interrupting the front elevation, neatly cuts it in half; which the front dormer is so skillfully scaled and joined to the main roof that it seems continuous with the main mass of the building rather than the usual attachment. The windows are few but large and the plan brick walls rest on massive limestone blocks.
