Structure Description
The style, the house is a good local example of late vernacular Queen Anne design influenced by classical tastes. Its diagonally sheathed gables, segmental-arched window openings, wrap-around veranda (since replaced), and stained glass transom lights are all marks of the style during its final flowering. The fret-sawn tympanum inserted into the space between the arch and head of each window is particularly characteristic of late Queen Anne design in this period.
Two unusual exterior details for a house of this late date are the bracket and pendant finishing off the side facets of the south bay and the dressed upper margin of the limestone foundation.
